Steel cables are being tensioned on the stands of the National Stadium in Warsaw.
When all cables of the roof construction have been tensioned and connected with other elements of the structure, the ‘big lift’ will take place, i.e. fixing and lifting the system of steel cables and the spire.
The ‘big lift’ can be followed with a camera broadcasting live from the Stadium construction site.
The roof construction steel cables have a total length of 71 km and their weight exceeds 2,000 tons. A single cable is 50 to 70 meters in length and 145 mm in diameter. The cables will be in position by the end of October 2010.
