The National Stadium at the Przystanek Woodstock Festival

On Saturday, July 31, during this year\'s 15th Woodstock Festival in Kostrzyn nad Odrą, under the auspices of the Academy of Fine Arts, a panel discussion, ‘UEFA EURO™ - National Stadium in Warsaw – disgrace or success?’ was held.

The discussion was attended by Marcin Herra, the PL.2012 CEO, and Ireneusz Konarski, the Head of the Partnerships and Preparation for Euro 2012 Department at the National Sports Centre. The meeting was led by Krzysztof Materna.

- This is the first time in decades that Poland has undertaken such an immense architectural project as the construction of the National Stadium in Warsaw, and it is the completion of the project that we would like to talk about – says Jurek Owsiak. - We cannot forget that the whole idea of the Championship is of utmost importance for the future of our country – he adds.

The major themes discussed during the meeting under the auspices of the Academy of Fine Arts were the logistics of the entire project and plans for future uses of the Stadium after the 2012 Championship.

- I am impressed by the artistic standard, but first of all, by the organisation of the Festival. I know how important the educational role, Przystanek Woodstock, plays, and I am aware of the responsibility it has. I hope we will succeed in moving the friendly and positive atmosphere of the Festival to the Stadium – says Ireneusz Konarski.

Artistic workshops were held during the Festival. Inspired by the European Football Championship in 2012, artists made two murals related to various aspects of the event. The festival viewers could present their opinions on each of them.

Przystanek Woodstock is a music festival organised by Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity).
